BLUE’S HISTORY:

Blues is a music genre from which was originate in the Deep and low south of the US around the in 1870 and Americans from roots in African musical traditions American work song or incorporated spirituals work song field houers shouts chants and rhymed simple narrate ballads. It was traditionally the music of black people and they would sing songs also known as spirituals about god and thirhard lives problems.

After the civil war there were lots of trumpets and other military band instrument available. The war resulted in the slaves being set free and they now began to use these instruments. Black people in America were still poorly treated though and they still had lots of problems. The spiritual began to evolve. They took some of the spirituals sound and chords on the improvise.

Rap can also be heard in night-clubs for the people who enjoy dance. Rap music singer like Drake are commonly performed. One of the song name is ‘God Plan’ by Drake, released on 19th January 2018. On Youtube, it has 1 billion views, and it is about helping poor people. Musically the song has been described as a rap, pop and trap song composed with 4 beats in a bar, a length of three minutes eighteen seconds. It is written in the key of E minor with a fast tempo of 154.4 beats per minute and a common progression of Am7–Bm7 chords.

It is difficult to link traditional blues to hip hop. Blues which relies on the 12 bar form and Blues harmonic structure, contrasts hip hop’s harmonic structure which is usually fairly flat and static. However, one of the more direct musical influences of hip hop is the use of “turntables” of Jamaican origin, that is influenced by reggae, that also had some indirect Blues influences. With the lyrics, you usually you don’t find the standard Blues form in Hip Hop. But there’s a close relationship with the oral southern black tradition that is found in the poems and primitive blues with story telling traditional lyrics. Some Call and Response can often be found in hip hop, and that’s another similarity with the Blues, but could come from many diverse influences.

Blues brought with it many cultural changes, later influencing jazz and the fashion. It al so influenced many other genres of music, such as rock and roll, jazz, and popular music. While there isn no direct link between Blues and Hip Hop, both emerged from the Black African-American communities. In the 1960s and 1970s, gospel and blues were these merged in soul blues music. Funk music of the 1970s was influenced by soul. Later funk can be seen as an antecedent of hip-hop and contemporary R&B music. Therefore there is more of an influence of the Blues on Jazz, but indirectly that does influence Hip Hop.

Before World War II, the boundaries between blues and jazz were less clear. But around 1940s, with the rise of Bebop Jazz, the audience for both Blues and jazz
split, and the border between Blues and jazz became more defined. The blues scale was featured in Rockabilly, Rock and Roll and eventually it also spread its influence to country music. For example, Jerry Lee Lewis, a white boogie woogie pianist returned to country after the decline of 1950s style rock and roll, he sang his country with a blues feel and often included Blues standards on his albums. He combined blues, jazz, and country styles and scored big hits with songs like “I’ll Sail My Ship Alone”

Hip-hop is a very popular genre today, just like the blues were in the 1950’s. Hip-hop can be seen as being vulgar and explicit, while the blues are a classic music genre that influenced many others, such as jazz, country and gospel. In actuality, these two genres are similar in many ways.

Blues tell the stories of the African-American community. Rap tells stories in rhymes and rhythm, of the black community in the 70s. Musically they are very different however. Rap includes minimal instrumentation, mostly a beat and a bass, with some sampled loops. Blues on the other hand uses more live band instrumentation such as guitars, banjos, and brass.
